Life after a rebellion is the central problem in Animal Farm. The animals take control of Manor Farm from Mr Jones, with Napoleon and Snowball among the pigs leading the change. The renamed farm is organised around a promise to eliminate the inequalities of the old order.

George Orwell’s satire follows the gap that develops between collective ideals and political power. The arrangements created after the revolt change over time, and the promises that justified it begin to lose their force. The farm provides the setting for that account of idealism and corruption.
